MMmmkaay - off the top??  This guy used to freak my shit 'OUUT', when I was a kid...  My uncle was a fan of his films.. Had ALLL his films on VHS tape... (remember them??)  PRE-dvd (for the kiddies out there, foSHO!). #clarificationisabeautifulthang!!

I remember one of his films my uncle had.. He was speaking to.. 'Those who've yet to come in 2015'.. Then added - 'tell us what life is like'.  I didn't know 'alot' at that age.. But I 'DID' know 'drugs'... And was - 'pretty-sure' - that 'ol Hitchy was on them.  As Ozzy is to music - so is Hitchcock to film.  That's allll ima say about that.. Another interesting factoid??  He used to do 'his OWN' clapper on MANY of the scenes of his films.. Almost as synonymous as his own cameos in his films..

Anyhoo - his story...

Hitchcock was born on 13 August 1899 in Leytonstone, London, the second son and youngest of three children. He was named after his father's brother, (Al) Alfred.  His family was mostly Roman Catholic, with his mother and paternal grandmother being of Irish extraction. Hitchcock was sent to the Jesuit Classic school- then onto St. Ignatius College in Enfield, London. He often described his childhood as being very lonely and sheltered, a situation compounded by his obesity.

On numerous occasions, Hitchcock said he was sent, by his father, here to the local police station with a note asking the officer to lock him away for ten minutes as punishment for behaving badly. What a prick his dad musta been!!  What's worse than that of a dad whos a prick??  A 'mom' - who is a bitch.. Young Hitchcock's mother would often make him address her while standing at the foot of her bed, especially if he behaved badly, forcing him to stand there for hours. These experiences would later be used for the portrayal of the character of Norman Bates in his movie Psycho.  Hitchcock's 'real life' was 'sadly' the result of his art that most often thought, mere fictional..

Hitchcock's father died when he was 14. In the same year, Hitchcock left St Ignatius to study at the London County Council School of Engineering and Navigation in Poplar, London.  After graduating, he became a draftsman and advertising designer with a cable company.

During this period, Hitchcock became intrigued by photography and started working in film production in London, working as a title-card designer for the London branch of what would become Paramount Pictures. In 1920, he received a full-time position at Islington Studios with its American owner, Famous Players-Lasky and their British successor, Gainsborough Pictures, (no longer in existence).. designing the titles for silent movies. He was living here...the sign on the place.. His rise from title designer to film director took five years, and by the end of the 1930s, Hitchcock had become one of the most famous filmmakers in England. This caught the attention of mogul David Selznick, who contacted & signed Hitchcock to a seven-year contract... Thus - Alfred & fam packed up and moved to Los Angeles in 1939...

In Los Angeles, Hitchcock lived here.. Wanna see his driver license??  Here's the gates to his SECOND home in Los Angeles.. This would be 'the' address that's on his license.. Wanna see Al in WAX??  His star??  Mailbox??  FoSho!!

You can leave your non-wilting flowers & comments here at his memorial.

My buddy Scott has an EXCELLENT write-up on the death of Hitchcock, here.

Because my uncle was such a HUGE fan of Hitchcock.. I guess he'll always have some sorta special place in my heart.. It was my unc who turned me on to Sir Chaplin..  My unc would say.. you either get him or you don't - I guess I just never really got Hitchcock... But there is ABSOLUTELY no doubt that his contributions to the film industry made him LEGENDARY!!!
