Lines that are classic..but then again, if the line was delivered from the throat & thru the mouth of Anne Ramsey..it was ALWAYS a safe bet it'd be a classic, & 'THE movie line', people were quoting loong after the film had its run!!

Anne Ramsey was, in my opinion, among the BEST 'OF' THE BEST.  BAR NONE!  They really don't make em like Anne anymore. How about her in "The Goonies?"....
"That's for sure!!  Just your dear old mother boys. Throw 'er into four-wheel drive and hold on to your hatss."

Classic, just awhile after one of Anne's films!  A grade A classy lady!! For a complete list of Anne's credits, go hereJust to get the honors of hitting Billy Crystal over the head, HARRRD, with a skillet ... would have given me unseen excitement!! Just the thought of it - makes me smile, BIGtime!!

Anne was born Anne Mobley, September 1, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in this Greenwich, Connecticut, home. She began acting at the Rosemary Hall School for Girls and later majored in Drama at Bennington College in Vermont. Her 37 year career started in summer stock theatre work where she met her husband, character actor Logan Ramsey. They worked at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia together, appearing in its first production. In 1971, she starred opposite her husband in The Sporting Club and then settled into small bit parts. However, when she became noticed for her plunty, gruff and tough womenly roles, and sheer naural talent, she got more offers for films.

She and Logan lived here during her tenure in California.

Contrary to her onscreen persona, Anne was a very sweet and kindly person in her everyday life, (verified by neighbors.) Very generous with her money, and her time. The pinnacle of her career came with her Academy Award nomination for her appearance in "Throw Momma From the Train." An honor worthy of one last public appearance.

In the mid-80's, Anne found out she was suffering from throat cancer and by early 1988, she had moved into the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Los Angeles. She still continued to work even months before her death in 1988. Ramsey died of throat cancer at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 59.

She is buried in an unmarked grave at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Omaha, Nebraska. Click here to visit her grave & leave virtual flowers.
